That may be were Gearbox has found some inspiration as the developer has confirmed that Borderlands 3 will also have a pinging system which will allow players to highlight weapons, enemies, and points of interest without having to speak to your co-op partners. You're on your own so you'll have to take out your friends.
A new mode introduced to the series will see players go head to head in a 1v1v1v1 competitive multiplayer experience.
The previously announced ECHOcast Twitch Extension will allow you to view the inventories of streamers, as well as spawn Badass enemies, buffing or debuffing the streamer as they fight them. There will also be group and asynchronous matchmaking so you can play while the game looks for teammates. Moxxi's Mixer Events are effectively a way for you to buy streamers in-game cocktails using Twitch Bits, with the fun twist that you get to vote on the cocktail ingredients and then watch as the streamer's Vault Hunter drinks it down and receives either a buff or a debuff. Certain events are also triggered once certain conditions are met. This comes in alongside a slew of other accessibility options aimed at opening Borderlands 3 up to a more diverse audience and their needs. There will be visual options for players who are affected by colour blindness, there will be auto-aim options, headbobs can be toggled, and there will be closed captioning included too.
The ping system allows players to mark enemies, NPCs, loot chests, and random map locations, meaning if you end up playing with random players online, you don't need to commit to chat if you want to communicate with them. For now, we can only hope that "Borderlands 3" manages to be a great game even though it hasn't shown any original or fresh features to bring to the first person shooter genre.
The release date of Borderlands 3 is set for September 13, 2019, between just over two months, and promises to be a rather long-lived title: the duration of the Borderlands 3 campaign will, in fact, be around thirty hours, excluding the exploration, all subquests, and free play.
