New Zealand police deployed specialist armed officers to a suburb in West Auckland on Wednesday morning (April 3) after responding to reports that a shot may have been fired.

Cordons were in place on a section of West Coast Road near Glendale Road, but appears to be lifted.
A Facebook administrator at the preschool, called Anita, wrote: "Just letting you all know that our Glen Eden centre is now under lock-down as there is police activity outside (police cars and helicopters)".
Glen Eden Primary School, in Glenview Road, has told parents it is in lockdown.
"We will continue to update the website as information comes to hand", an employee posted on the school's Facebook page.
