Ariana Grande performed her latest single "thank u, next" for the first time on Ellen and her "First Wives Club" dance routine saw her nearly fall down.
Though the Ellen performance mostly goes off without a hitch, Grande and her companions mistakenly dance through the Ellen audience toward the studio exit when the song concludes.
To her credit, Grande doesn't slam Davidson or any of her exes on the track.
At one point, Grande stood up on a chair, bopping to her song in white heeled boots, but when she stepped down, she stumbled and fell, exclaiming, "Oh my god!"
Not surprisingly, she elides the song's chorus "I'm so f-ing grateful for my ex" to "I'm so, I'm so grateful" on "Ellen". She recovered like a champ, though, laughing off the moment while continuing to sing, like it was no big deal.
We loved how she and her girls simply marched up the stairs and off the set at the end of the number giving great attitude and girl power, but DeGeneres was on the stage waiting to chat with her.
Grande teased the upcoming performance on her Instagram, sharing behind-the-scenes photos and even a short clip. While many initially assumed the outfits were a nod to Grande's would-have-been nuptials with ex-fiancé Pete Davidson, the look was actually a reference to a scene in the 1996 film, First Wives Club.
Ariana Grande released "thank u, next" out of nowhere recently.
"We were supposed to come down?"
"Yeah, you left me!"
