(Update) August release date revealed for Shenmue 1 & 2

Polygon reported back in April that the PC version will have "fully scalable screen resolutions, choice of modern or classic control schemes [i.e., D-pad control or analog stick], PC graphics options, an updated user interface, and the option to enjoy either the original Japanese or English voiceovers".

Microsoft's own Larry "Major Nelson" Hryb revealed on his blog that Shenmue 1 & 2 is now available for pre-order. Fans will be happy to know that they will be able to play through the first two Shenmue games when they release simultaneously on August 21. For a closer look at the game, you can check out the newly-released trailer from SEGA below, and you can also head over to Amazon to pre-order a physical copy of the game now.

Shenmue I & II will release next month on PC and consoles in all regions.

Technically Sega hasn't announced the date but it appears on the Microsoft store with a price tag of £24.99.

In news that will please Lewis, formerly of this parish, Shenmue I & II will launch both physically and digitally on PS4 and Xbox One on August 21st, and both games will also be available on Steam on the same date.

Likewise, for "technical reasons" Sega has chosen to port Shenmue 2's Xbox iteration-as opposed to its Dreamcast variant.

Never mind Shenmue III, for years even the prospect of a remaster of the original games has seemed impossible.
