The distinctively highlighted wheels and the low shoulder line in between give the A1 Sportback a solid stance on the road. The top version will also get twin tailpipes.
At launch there will also be an "Edition" model, based on the S line equipment grade. It impressively showcases the design language of the A1 with numerous contrasts. It will have 18-inch wheels in bronze, white or black depending on the color of the auto. An uncanny likeness is present when it is compared with the Audi-Ur Quattro and Sport Quattro cars. The Audi rings in the Singleframe and the model designation at the rear are in black. This provides for a particularly high degree of flexibility. It furthermore has black styling and an MMI touch display in the interior space. The full-LED lights are also optional.

The report suggests that with a Haldex-style quattro system and additional power (about 16 kW more than the outgoing model, if the above estimate proves accurate), the new version of Ingolstadt's baby hot hatch should be a smidgen quicker from standstill to 100 km/h than its 5,9-second forebear (which is no longer offered in South Africa). Despite the compact exterior dimensions and the sporty roof line adults in the rear seats still enjoy plenty of head and leg room. Increase in size affected the volume of the Luggage compartment, which increased by 65 liters and has reached 335 L. The loading sill now sits at a more comfortable 67 cm. The wide, flat sloping C-pillar pushes the new A1 forward even while standing still.
Audi says the cabin of its new A1 is driver focused, with a fully digital 10.25-inch instrument cluster standard on all models. Audi's Virtual Cockpit, which offers more information such as a navigation map, will be optional on higher trims. Voice control also comes standard.
The Infotainment systems have received a big boost, with MMI navigation and touchscreen being the latest in Audi's armoury.
In terms of design, the A1 Sportback has grown significantly in length and it now measures 4.03 metres. Sound systems can be speced to include the 560 watt Bang & Olufsen Premium Sound System. The standard lane departure warning helps the driver to keep the vehicle in the lane from a speed of 40mph.

The radar sensor recognises critical situations involving other vehicles, crossing pedestrians or cyclists ahead of the vehicle, even when visibility is poor such as in fog. It will be the first A1 to be offered with a reversing camera, while park assist is also an option to help with bay and parallel parking.
Then there's a 150PS 1.5-litre four-cylinder unit with the cylinder on demand efficiency system (COD) in the 35 TFSI. Already in the entry-level Audi A1 is equipped with a electronic instrument panel, but for extra charge you can order a more advanced version with better graphics. Red brake calipers and large brake discs are somewhere in the works.
The original entry point to business drivers who wanted to access the Audi range, the A1 was first launched in 2010. The auto will launch this summer and will launch in Europe in the fall starting at under 20,000 Euros.
