Unfortunately for Square Enix, the slew of trailers thrown in felt underwhelming since majority have already been seen before- many of them were shown at Microsoft's conference on Sunday. Not content jockeying for space inside big first-party press conferences for Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo, they needed stages all to themselves.
But again, Square Enix made a decision to show a slightly modified trailer from the Xbox press conference. More so when you consider the games it has out in the near future.
That suggests the transition we saw in the video is how the game works - blending TV show style cut scenes with gameplay.
The Amazing Adventures of Captain Spirit will release for free on June 26.
It's out next year, but only for PlayStation 4 and PC.
Dragon Quest XI was also looking very good, with great graphics and an interesting, somewhat Zelda-esque, open world. We got a glimpse at the story in Dragon Quest XI and the kinds of battles and skirmishes we can expect from the latest entry in the storied series.
The world's of Final Fantasy XIV and Monster Hunter: World are coming together under one roof this summer in what appears to be a collaboration that pits Final Fantasy characters against beasts from Monster Hunter.
A number of Square Enix titles have already been revealed at some of the other showcases including Kingdom Hearts III and Shadow of the Tomb Raider. Not much else is known at the moment, though you can watch a trailer for it below.
