Ed Sheeran Rumored to Appear in Upcoming Beatles-Themed Comedy Film

The news comes from the pages of the Daily Mail in the United Kingdom, who say that Sheeran is set to play the new comedy - tentatively titled All You Need Is Love.

The Daily Mail says Sheeran will appear on screen and write new music for the film, which will also include Beatles songs, although Deadline-a more solid source on Hollywood goings-on-can't confirm whether Sheeran will indeed be contributing to the soundtrack or score. Plot details are being kept under wraps.

Grammy-winning performer Sheeran, known for hits including Shape Of You and Castle On The Hill, has also previously appeared in FX series The Bastard Executioner and Oz series Home And Away.

The British superstar musician, Ed Sheeran, is now said by a British tabloid to be in talks to star in Danny Boyle and Richard Curtis's upcoming untitled musical comedy. Saturday Night Live standout Kate McKinnon is in talks with filming due to take place this summer. Boyle, who's also on board to direct the next James Bond movie, is said to be planning on wrapping up this film before getting started on the 007 adventure. The Working Title/Universal Pictures film has a script from Richard Curtis, writer and director of Love Actually. Tim Bevan, Eric Fellner, Matt Wilkinson and Bernie Bellew will produce. Executive vice president of production Erik Baiers is overseeing the project for Universal. Although the as-yet-untitled movie is a musical comedy, it's unclear whether Sheeran will be contributing one of his Caribbean-inflected songs to the soundtrack, or whether he'll be exclusively in an on-camera role.
