Android 8.1 Oreo is rolling out in a stable build to Essential Phones right now. Today, though, Essential is making good on a promise and rolling out an official Android 8.1 update to the PH-1.
As Essential doesn't reskin much of the pure Android experience, the company isn't adding any new features to Android Oreo with today's update. The announcement was made on Twitter a short while ago.

Artem has updated his Essential Phone, which formerly wouldn't even work if he opted to restore apps and settings, and he's overjoyed that he finally has a functioning phone.
