'Armed suspect' on Greyhound bus arrested after chase from Wisconsin into IL

Police surrounded a Greyhound bus after an incident involving a possible gunman on I-94 at Illinois Route 173, Illinois State Police confirmed Friday.

Wisconsin and IL law enforcement attempted to stop the bus after a passenger called 911, officials said. The bus crossed into IL and was stopped near I-94 at Rt. 173.

A person on the Greyhound bus made threats to harm passengers according to public safety radio transmissions.

The Lake County Sheriff's Office says a man with a gun was reported on the bus.

Authorities announced the unidentified suspect was in custody after 12:30 a.m.

Approximately 40 passengers aboard the bus have been safely removed - and there are no injuries reported.

The chase began in southern Wisconsin and ended on Interstate 94 near the Wadsworth exit, according to a news release from the Illinois State Police.

Multiple agencies are at the scene responding to the incident.
