Launched with Android 7.1.2 Nougat out-of-the-box, the Xiaomi Mi A1 will soon get the Android 8.0 Oreo Beta update.
After finding Mi 6 testers for Android O based on China Alpha ROM, the Chinese technology giant has now announced that the Xiaomi Mi A1 can take part in stock Android 8.0 Oreo beta test programme irrespective of your location. Notably, the company is inviting users from all over the world for this beta testing program. You can become a Xiaomi Beta Tester in a few easy steps. To register, you have to download the Xiaomi MIUI forum app from Google Play Store. Head over to the forum to apply before 23:59 PM on December 11 (Beijing Time). On the homepage of the app, select Recruitment.
The application states that all Mi A1 users are eligible to apply and only the device's IMEI number is to be provided for the application. The device has the best specifications for an Android One phone so far, with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 SoC, 5.5-inch Full HD (1920×1080) display, 4GB of RAM with 64GB of storage, dual 12MP wide-angle + telephoto rear cameras, and a 3080mAh battery.
Xiaomi is now seeking Android 8.0 Oreo beta testers who use its Mi A1 smartphone to experiment with the beta version of the latest iteration of Google's mobile operating system. Xiaomi reminds you that since this is beta software, there will be bugs and features that might not work. In terms of optics, the phone boasts dual 12 MP cameras (26mm, f/2.2; 50mm, f/2.6) with 2x optical zoom and dual LED flash.
It remains to be known when the Mi A1 will receive the Android Oreo update but there are claims that the update might be rolled out before the end of this year.
