In a shocking incident, an Ola cab driver in Bengaluru allegedly tried to molest a woman and prevented her from escaping by activating child lock in his auto.
The driver activated the child lock and forcing the woman to remain in the vehicle, while he masturbated.
After the incident, the accused driver made several calls the next day threatening the victim of dire consequences if she lodged a complaint against him to the cab service. Though the woman had complained to Ola via customer care, after which action was taken too, Ola representatives claimed they did not have any record of the complaint.
The woman was travelling alone from Indiranagar to BTM Layout in an Ola cab. I warned him and tried to damage the auto. The driver took her to a deserted spot on the Ring Road in south east Bengaluru and suddenly stopped, the woman said.
A police officer is said to have spoken to Reddy, who defended himself saying that he had only tried to reach back to help her open the door which was child-locked. The woman ran for 500 meters till she reached the Ejipura traffic signal. Fearing an attack by Reddy, the woman approached the Madivala police and informed them about the incident.
The woman, however, alleged that Ola did not inform her about the action it took against the driver.
Ola spokesperson said, "We regret the unfortunate experience the customer had during their ride".
Now is the high time the firm owners take stringent actions against the perpetrators since this issue has now become a cause of concern and safety of passengers.
She went to the police but decided not to file a complaint as the driver had been warned.
Another shocking incident was reported in September where an Ola cab driver allegedly assaulted a businessman with iron rod near CV Raman Road.
