Sports Group surrounds the penultimate races of the 2017 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup and XFINITY Series Playoffs, with more than 15 hours of trackside coverage from Phoenix International Raceway, in Avondale, Arizona.
None of the drivers feels comfortable. "Knowing we have won there helps you just go in there with a good attitude". With their respective first and second place finishes this past Sunday, Harvick and Truex Jr. joined Kyle Busch as the first three drivers to make the 2017 Cup Series Championship Four. He comes to Phoenix as an 8-time victor at this track. Martin Truex Jr. can fall back on his points if he doesn't win at Phoenix.
So, could this weekend in Phoenix be a throwaway race for Busch and the M&M'S Caramel team?
Outlook: This is a good track for Hamlin, who was 11th in March. He was fifth at the spring race past year and even though he missed the 2016 fall race due to a concussion, his replacement, Alex Bowman, won the pole and led 194 laps before finishing sixth.
Outlook: Blaney should figure he can have a solid top-10 finish at Phoenix, where he has six top-10s in seven career starts across NASCAR national series at the track. His average finish is 12.5 while his driver rating there is 99.7. Elliott would gladly take the win now and then see what happens next week at Homestead. A 14-time most popular driver award recipient, Earnhardt has won the exhibition All-Star Race twice and is a five-time victor of the Daytona 500 qualifying race. But it appears that's the case, even with his four career victories at the track (the last coming in 2009).
