There were rumours that Deepika Padukone, who shares screen space with Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Padmavati, was the highest paid star in the film and the dimpled dame opened up about it during a recent event.
As per the trailer and other talks from the makers, it is already clear that the movie is centered around Deepika Padukone and she is the absolute lead actor. I am confident and comfortable with what I am paid. "That for me is hugely encouraging".
Elated on the announcement, Ajit Andhare - COO, Viacom18 Motion Pictures, said "I am very proud to announce that Paramount Pictures will lead the worldwide release of our epic film Padmavati".
Talking about the prowess of the character Rani Padmini in terms of women, she said, "In terms of scale, budget and resources, it's a huge film. For me, that is the turning point for Indian cinema".
Deepika also said that the role was extremely challenging and different than Mastani in "Bajirao Mastani".
Deepika has been gathering a lot of love and praise from across quarters for essaying the role of the most handsome woman, Rani Padmini in the best way. She doesn't have a sword or armour. Her purity, intensity and values, are very relatable and identifiable, yet not in a literal sense. "And for an actor, I found that even more hard", noted Padukone. How do you fight that is so much more than a war? You are standing up for your tradition your culture, heritage, love. Well, Deepika reciprocated the usual norm with her "Padmavati". The cast includes Deepika Padukone, Shahid Kapoor, and Ranveer Singh. Recently the first song of Padmavati, Ghoomar too was released and people can not stop raving about how correctly Deepika has picked up the folk dance and performed it with so much grace.
