This week, Microsoft's Phil Spencer complained openly that Sony will not allow Minecraft cross-platform play to include the PlayStation 4.
"The relationship with Nintendo on this front has been strong".
"We talk to Sony all the time". "But I think Sony's view is different".
However, while a lot of Xbox One's leading titles in the past have been exclusives strictly for a year or less - with Rise Of The Tomb Raider being the most prominent example - there are a few games that will never find themselves on the stacked plates of candies for PlayStation 4 owners.
You can head over here for more details. It was arguably the singular blockbuster announcements of this year's E3 conference.
Microsoft has been on expanding cross-platform play to both Sony and Nintendo, notably for Minecraft, but Spencer, in an interview with GameSpot, noted that only the latter has been keen to play nice with Redmond's Xbox.
Today, it appears that hope has died.
"I have a real struggle making comments about their motivation or timelines". These new Xbox One S bundles are great for those who want to get more when they buy the console.
The Xbox One S Starter Bundle includes a 500GB Xbox One S and three months of Xbox Game Pass service, which gives users access to over 100 titles for $10 per month. "I have a little dashboard I go to and I can see all the games [and] where they are in getting approvals in the pipeline". So I'm never going to call anything a lost cause but I think some of the fundamental reasons and certain scenarios, they're not really going away.
Sony, come on. Seriously.
