In response to media inquiries on NNPC joint venture financing, VP Osinbajo, as Ag President approved recommendations after due diligence...
His reaction comes in the wake of the scandal rocking the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).
"The NPDC production service contracts have undergone due process, while the AKK contract that requires [Federal Executive Council] FEC approval has not reached the stage of contract award", it added. They are merely the shortlisting of prospective off-takers of crude oil and suppliers of petroleum products under agreed terms.
The NNPC however, dismissed the allegations, maintaining that it followed due process in awarding contracts and also said Kachikwu's consent was not needed in the award of the contracts which he complained about.
However, bringing the agitating question of who signed the contract to rest, Vice President Osinbajo, in statement by his spokesperson, Laolu Akande, claimed that he was the one who approved the contracts while functioning as acting president in July, 2017.
There have been speculations that the President gave approvals for the two contracts on his sick bed in London.
