Aguero Explains Why City Signing Messi Would Be Difficult

Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero admits he would "love" compatriot Lionel Messi to join him at the Etihad but admits any potential deal would be "complicated".

Messi spent midweek helping Argentina seal their place at the 2018 World Cup finals, and his fellow countryman and close friend Sergio Aguero - has never hidden his desire to link-up with him, and he has repeated that desire this week.

"When a player has a free day at Manchester City, most of the players go to London, others to Italy, some to Spain", Aguero told TyC Sport. But Leo, just like other players like [Cristiano] Ronaldo, are symbols of their clubs and it's hard to leave not just to City but to other clubs that also have the money.

"I would love to have Leo on my team, but that seems quite complicated".

City chief executive Ferran Soriano has said he would "open the doors" to Messi if he ever chose to leave, but manager Pep Guardiola believes he will finish his career at Barca.

Manchester City have been handed a welcome boost ahead of the weekend, with Sergio Aguero on track to return to action just two weeks after suffering a broken rib in a vehicle crash.

"I took a moment to think and realised it's thanks to wearing a seat-belt that I'm able to talk about this at all".

However, Aguero hit back at his critics for suggesting he should not have been in Amsterdam in his days off from the club.

"I sent a message to Messi, a normal one, as I did to everybody", Aguero said. "Today I trained normally, but without the group". "I know nothing. I saw the news and read that and I was surprised".
