Madhya Pradesh: Minister wants students to answer roll call with 'Jai Hind'

School Education Minister Vijay Shah told ANI that Schools in Satna have been directed to ensure students answer roll call with "Jai Hind" instead of "Yes Sir/Madam" from October 1.

Shivraj Singh Chouhan government in MP had earlier made Yoga as an integral part in the Madhya Pradesh school curriculum. "We just want to keep our culture alive which our young generation is forgetting", report quoting minister said.

"I have a military background; my grandfathers have been in the Army". After the controversy, Vijay Shah clarified all those who were not able to pay the amount were also welcome to take a selfie with him.

In April 2017, a private school in Meerut issued a diktat asking its students to get a haircut similar to Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath.

He said that he didn't like the concept of "yes sir, yes madam" in schools and hence, directed the schools to do this.

"Will take permission from CM if experiment turns successful, and would like to implement it in entire MP", Shah said. "And whenever they come to meet, they always say "Jai Hind" which I think is a way of respecting your nation, and the feeling of love for your country is shown through his gesture".

To inculcate patriotism among students, the state government has already given instructions on hoisting the Tricolour and singing the national anthem in schools every day, the minister said.
