Sam Hornish Jr. dominated in his home state to win the XFinity Mid-Ohio Challenge on Saturday.
The Penske Racing veteran turned in a dominant performance at the OH road course Saturday afternoon.
Ohioan Sam Hornish Jr. wins XFinity Mid-Ohio race
Hornish, from Defiance, Ohio, took the lead from rookie Daniel Hemric on lap 62 of 75 after the seventh caution at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. Elliott Sadler (second) posted his 10th top-10 start of 2017 and his third in five races at Mid-Ohio. It was his first win of the season and fifth-career series win.
WHO HAD A GOOD DAY: Hornish was the star of the day, but the rest of the top-five all earned Xfinity career-best finishes: Hemric (2nd), Tifft (3rd), Australian driver Davison (4th in his second career Xfinity event) and sports auto racing veteran Andy Lally (5th). The races will be gridded based on championship points, with the first race starting at 9:30 a.m. ET.
