Not as gritty as "Daredevil" or as cool as "Luke Cage" and "Jessica Jones", this latest component of what will be put together as "The Defenders" lands with more of a tiresome thud. In a world where we already have the depressed white guy with Daredevil (although he gets mad points for being blind AF while brutally beating people down), a snarky white woman, and the indestructible black dude, what in Marvel's right mind thought that the next step would be two steps back, with a calm heir to a corporation that also dabbles in kung fu?
And it's not just Danny Rand that people are having a hard time caring about.
Iron Fist is now streaming on Netflix. As it is, these last seven episodes will now have a steep uphill battle to justify Danny Rand's place in that line-up alongside Matt Murdock, Jessica Jones and Luke Cage.
When Danny returns to NY after years spent training with monks, disheveled and shoeless and claiming to be the heir to a vast fortune, nobody from his old life recognizes him, and he's dismissed repeatedly as insane. So here are 10 reasons why the last addition to the Defenders squad will steal the show (s). A hero whose fists were pure iron, with stories that went from less to more to team for several years with Power Man (Luke Cage).
Rand has a legitimate chip on his shoulder, as he's trying to regain control over his deceased parents' Rand Enterprises. You might as well call it Iron Fist since that's what its presenters are calling it and before them, what the creators who produced the Iron Fist comic book called it.

What nefarious plot does he have up his sleeve? However, don't get too excited because the show wouldn't be addictive until the fifth chapter. This is the streaming service's fourth (and not final) Marvel series, so they should have learned some lessons by now.
But season two of Daredevil earned a relatively rough rating of 76%, so all hope is not lost. Dawson's brings some much-needed personality and charm to this episode and helps Iron Fist not take itself too seriously.
In an article titled Marvel, Please Cast An Asian American Iron Fist, journalist Kevin Chow said Marvel had a "chance to add even more diversity to its interconnected cinematic universe".
"He finally gives the show a proper sense of flair, shamelessly reveling in the genre's campier elements through a fun, three-act combat-challenge structure". You can even find a few of them on Netflix.
Is that all we need with Iron Fist?
"I was actually hesitant to get involved with the project at first", says showrunner Scott Buck about getting pitched by Marvel to helm the series.
However, is it bad enough to throw us off Defenders?
Iron Fist is the most badass name of all four superheroes mentioned here. Jessica Jones sounds like your next-door neighbor. During a later session, he asks Danny to show him the power of the Iron Fist in action, but thanks to the cocktail of drugs coursing through his bloodstream, Danny can't tap in to what he needs to make that happen - and Edmonds won't let Danny leave if he thinks he's less than sane.
