Briante Weber has been hanging around the fringes of the National Basketball Association for a couple years, the point guard has played in short stints (usually 10-day contracts) for the Grizzlies, Heat, Warriors, and most recently Hornets.
The Lakers signed 7-foot center Stephen Zimmerman to a non-guaranteed contract on Wednesday and are expected to add at least two more players later in the week as they move closer to filling out their roster for the start of training camp next month.
Weber has been a journeyman in his young career, also playing for the Miami Heat and Memphis Grizzlies in the 2015-16 season as well as making seven appearances for the Golden State Warriors past year (1.7 points in 6.6 minutes per contest).
Zimmerman, a 5-star prospect out of high school at Bishop Gorman in Las Vegas, played one season at UNLV before entering the 2016 NBA Draft.
Zimmerman’s best outing with Orlando came in a loss to the Charlotte Hornets on March 10, as he accounted for six points and three rebounds in 18 minutes of action. By his senior year, however, he jumped up to 6.7 long-range shots each time he played.
Beachem was a particularly impressive three-point shooter on uncontested catch-and-shoot attempts from long distance last season. He then hooked on with the Milwaukee Bucks for the Las Vegas NBA Summer League and posted 4.5 points and 3.5 rebounds in 13.5 minutes.
