A former Michigan Boy Scouts leader and Border Control Agent has been sentenced after pleading guilty to fourth degree criminal sexual conduct involving a child.
In court on Tuesday, he was sentenced to one year in jail and five years probation.
David Radecki, 37, pleaded guilty to three counts of second degree criminal sexual conduct. Police there began investigating Radecki in October after receiving reports regarding a 12-year-old boy that has been sexually groped multiple times, WDIV-TV, Channel 4 News previously reported.
“He made me feel bad”.
“I thought [Radecki] was my friend and he was going to teach me stuff in Boy Scouts”.
The youngster said he joined the Boy Scouts to learn skills that would help him one day become a U.S. Navy Seal.
The victim’s mother said although she wasn’t happy with the sentence, the upside to Radecki taking a plea deal for what she says is a lighter sentence is her son won’t have to go through a trial. “He has taken away the fun of raising a teenager”, she said.
Radecki sat with his attorney listening as the boy’s mother read the letter. “I had an extremely outgoing and charming young man”. “It’s not your fault. Keep your head up and i wish you the best”.
Radecki, 38, will be registered as a sex offender, and can not have unsupervised contact with any one under the age of 16, or own a computer with internet access, or live near any schools.
After the charges were filed back in March, the Boys Scouts of America released a statement, calling the “abhorrent” allegations against everything for which the organization stands. Upon learning of these allegations we took action to preclude this individual from any further participation in the Scouting program.
