The first full-length trailer for Goodbye Christopher Robin offers an answer, along with a healthy dose of childhood nostalgia, critically acclaimed actors and the right amount of movie magic involving a beloved teddy bear and his familiar friends. It’s a wonderful trailer for what looks to be a heart-warming tear-jerker of a film. It stars Domhnall Gleeson as former playwright and current author A.A. Milne; newcomer Will Tilston as Milne’s real-life son, Christopher Robin; Margot Robbie as Christopher’s mother, Daphne; and Kelly Macdonald as Christopher’s nanny, Olive. Will Tilston plays the young Christopher Robin. No other character details have emerged just yet and there remains no release date for Christopher Robin. Eventually, Christopher Robin became bitter over Pooh Bear and the inhabitants of the fictional Hundred Acre Wood, and ultimately he became estranged from his parents as an adult. Likewise, Gleeson seems to excel in the role of the troubled Milne who loves his son but is finding it hard to connect to him.
Written by Frank Cottrell Boyce (Millions) and Simon Vaughan (War and Peace), Goodbye Christopher Robin is being produced by Damian Jones (Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie, The Lady in the Van) and Steve Christian (Belle). Based on author A. A. Milne “s famous Winnie-the-Pooh series, which was turned into a TV show by Disney, the forthcoming feature has already secured Star Wars actor Ewan McGregor to play a grown-up version of the bear’s owner Christopher Robin, while Hayley will reportedly play his wife”.
