A Detroit man accused in the nonfatal shooting of two city police officers is being charged in the shooting death of Wayne State University police Sgt. Collin Rose, law enforcement officials announced Thursday. Authorities on Thursday, Aug. 3, 2017, charged Raymond Durham with first-degree murder in Rose’s death.
In the early evening hours on November 22, Rose had conducted a traffic stop on Durham, who was riding a bicycle near Lincoln and Brainard Streets in Detroit, prosecutors said.
DNA linked Durham to Rose’s slaying. He was charged with first-degree murder, but Worthy’s office dropped the charges against him December 7.
Rose, 29, was fatally shot late November 2016 while investigation possible vehicle thefts. Before the shooting, Rose radioed in that he was about to speak to someone on a bike. He died the next day from his injuries.
Durham was arrested in connection to the shootings of two Detroit police officers.

Durham is now being held at the Center for Forensic Psychiatry, Cripps said, adding that he was deemed incompetent to stand trial for the March shooting by two doctors at the center.
Family members have said Durham lived in an abandoned house and repaired bikes.
Durham’s attorney has said her client “appears to be somewhat delusional”. Attendees included Lt. Gov. Brian Calley, Wayne State University President M. Roy Wilson, Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan and Detroit Police Chief James Craig. “This a solemn time, not one of celebration, as the department is still going through recovery, but it does provide some comfort to see that this process is moving forward”. The school employs around 65 officers.
“This will allow a sense of recovery for the family, for officers of this department and for the Wayne State community at large”, WSU Police Chief Anthony Holt said. He is the only Wayne State officer killed in the line of duty.
“Sgt. Rose’s career and his impact on others will never be forgotten”, Worthy said.
