Former Greenville Public Safety director sentenced for health care fraud

The former Public Safety Director of Greenville has been sentenced for his role in a health care fraud.

As part of his sentence, a Montcalm County Circuit Court judge ordered Reiss to complete his incarceration by reporting to the jail at 6 p.m. Friday and staying until 6 p.m. Sunday.

Mark pleaded no contest as charged. He resigned in February.

The sentence calls for 58 days in jail, with the first 28 days to be served on consecutive weekends starting tomorrow. He will be eligible to have his final 30 days suspended if he complies with terms of his probation.

Reiss, who has already paid restitution, is now working at a manufacturing company in Grand Haven.

Reiss was accused of failing to remove his ex-wife from his health care insurance policy, police said.

A former top municipal official in western MI has been sentenced to 28 days in jail and 150 hours of community service after pleading no contest to health care fraud. He must also serve a year probation and perform 150 hours of community service as part of his punishment.
