Man Utd boss Jose Mourinho could reportedly land the signing of Nemanja Matic from Chelsea, but it’s going to cost a lot to sign the midfield ace.
Matic has been influential in two title triumphs during his time with Chelsea, but if the Telegraph are to be believed, his days in West London are numbered.
The Serbia global is said to be keen to leave Stamford Bridge following the arrival of Tiemoue Bakayoko from Monaco. The arrival of the France global has seen the former Juventus and Italy manager sanction his sale.
United had a bid in the region of £35m for Matic rejected by Chelsea which I’d say is more than reasonable for Matic given they paid only £40m for his replacement Tiemoue Bakayoko from AS Monaco. However, the Premier League winners are demanding a fee of £50m ($65m) in letting their midfielder swap the Blues for the Red Devils. The Russian billionaire intervened to allow Petr Cech join Arsenal, despite Mourinho, their then manager’s refusal for the transfer.
Meanwhile, Conte has recently cited that Alvaro Morata was indeed his first-choice striker target, and he may not hold any grudges over United’s move for Romelu Lukaku earlier this month.
Alternatively, big spending AC Milan are on offer at 14/1 (15.00) to add the former Benfica player to their long list of signings this summer, while Paris Saint-Germain can be backed at 22/1 (23.00) to bring him to the French capital. As a result, a move to United would of course be less preferable than a switch to Juventus, who are also credited with an interest, but much depends on the figures involved and Matic’s desire. The midfielder and Diego Costa are left of Chelsea’s squad for their pre-season tour of China and Malaysia.
