The location feature is “opt-in”, which means that location sharing is switched off by default but can be turned on by the user.
Snap Map settings can also be accessed by clicking on Dear icon on the top right corner of this feature. The new Snap Map allows users to share their location and view the locations of friends nearby.
“There’s definitely the aspect of where are my friends and what’s happening around them, but then there’s a greater aspect of what’s happening globally”, Snap product designer Jack Brody told Refinery29.
