To celebrate the 20th anniversary of System Shock 2, Nightdive Studios, has announced that they will start work on an enhanced edition of the game.
There aren't any further details than this, but the enhancements will likely be in line with the features planned for Nightdive Studios' System Shock. Nightdive is also working on the System Shock remake which should be coming out early next year. Gut says there's a solid chance of a sneaky trailer for the game dropping during the new press conference that's being held during Gamescom, but we'll keep you posted. System Shock 2 was re-released in 2013 thanks to retro resurrector Nightdive Studios, but again only on PC. System Shock 2 is one of the most influential immersive sims of all time, but quite frankly some parts of it just haven't aged well, especially its often un-intuitive skill tree. Now, requests for an Enhanced Edition of System Shock 2 are finally being made a reality and we couldn't be more excited!
As for what the Enhanced Edition of System Shock 2 will contain, fans can look back on the Enhanced Edition of the original System Shock for reference. This can even be seen in BioShock, which acts as a spiritual successor of sorts, which even has similarities in story beats to System Shock 2. Are you looking forward to being able to revisit both games, or are you hoping to hear more on System Shock 3 in the future?
