Over the last 24 hours, interest was piqued when Xbox Germany seemingly posted a video of the Final Fantasy VII Remake trailer on their Facebook, with references to PlayStation removed.
The post was quickly deleted, however, and Xbox Germany's marketing communications and social lead, Maxi Gräff, has since tweeted out that the entire thing was one big misunderstanding.
The question we're left with is what kind of mistake is this.
Final Fantasy 7 Remake is not advertised as being a PlayStation 4 exclusive game, but the PS4 is also the only system that the game is announced for at the time of this writing. "Sorry, no announcement on our side", she wrote.
A social media video which contained a release date for Final Fantasy 7 Remake on Xbox One is an "internal mistake", according to Microsoft. I mean, never say never, but an Xbox One version of Final Fantasy VII Remake doesn't sound particularly hopeful, does it?
While an Xbox release isn't new information, as mentioned above, the game was originally set to launch exclusively on PlayStation 4. The post, which has long since been removed, incorrectly declared the game would launch on Xbox One on the same day as the PlayStation 4 release - the only version we now know about.
While it seems very unlikely that any other platforms will be getting Final Fantasy 7 Remake in March, we're still expecting a PC port to appear eventually.
