A renowned teacher who trains students for IIT-JEE, Anand Kumar, the name behind the coaching centre, Super 30 in Bihar who transformed the future of many as a teacher also got featured in TIME magazine in 2010 as "The Best of Asia". While Farah Khan has called Super 30 the "film of the year", Bollywood actress Yami Gautam has called it a "must watch". The film which is a biopic on Anand Kumar is a solo release this week. "I am honoured to have played the on-screen role of Anand Kumar".
Determined that other brilliant but economically backward children like him do not face such travails, Anand Kumar initiated his Super 30 educational programme in 2002. The team has done an incredible job.
It was just recently that Anand Kumar revealed that he is suffering from brain tumour. Upon more medical examination and diagnosis, he got to know that 80 to 90 percent of his ability to hear from his right ear was disabled. Tests revealed almost 90 per cent of his hearing ability in the ear had been destroyed. Later, in 2014 when he visited New Delhi's Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, the doctors told him that there was no issue with his ear but the nerve that connects it to the brain where the tumour resides. He constantly told me that 'Anand ji, give me a year to prepare for this role.' He had to tone down his physique and muscles.
Due to his health conditions, Kumar, who is now on medication, wanted his biopic to be completed as soon as possible. "You have no idea of life and death, so I wanted this biopic to be made while I was alive", he added. Such an important movie on current times. The movie also features Mrunal Thakur alongside Hrithik and Pankaj Tripathi as Hrithik's opposition Talking about Super 30, the actor has definitely gotten into the skin of his character of a Bihari Maths teacher by hitting the right chords with the strong accent.
