Splinter Cell and Assassin's Creed games could be coming to Oculus VR

The headsets already look a lot like Sam Fisher's ever present night vision goggles, so why not? While we've a fair amount of stealth games since then, but none that quite delivered an experience that goes with the name Splinter Cell.

There's no word yet on when we can expect to see the Splinter Cell and Assassin's Creed VR games.

The push into more well-known titles on the Oculus VR also shows Facebook truly appears to be dedicated to making the platform a titan of the industry.

The report said Facebook has already funded a host of VR titles for the Oculus.

IGN shared a report from The Information about Facebook's grand plans for gaming. People have been begging Ubisoft for years to release a new Splinter Cell game.

The Information stated on Facebook that Oculus has been trying to have more exclusive games available for their VR system. This is lower than the 33% reported past year.

After the hype following the wildly successful Oculus Rift Kickstarter in 2012 - which came before Facebook acquired the VR company for USD$2bn (£1.59bn) in 2014 - the VR market has settled to slow growth. Oculus recently released the Oculus Quest, a more streamlined version of their VR headset, that has reportedly sold better than the company expected, with sales up by 54.1% from past year according to IGN. While Facebook is yet to detail Quest sales numbers, source told The Information that sales of the Oculus Quest units have gone far beyond the social networking giant's internal sales projections for the hardware. So, acquiring studios and inking exclusives are two sure ways to ensure content will come to the Oculus, and make the VR headset more appealing to potential customers. You can reach him on Twitter.
