According to the latest data from Sensor Tower, it has been speculated that since the launch of Pokémon Go three years ago, it has generated $2.65 billion in profit. This covers transactions across the App Store and Google Play.
It makes GO one of the popular western-made smartphone games to-date. Clash of Clans still holds the top spot, grossing an estimated amount of $3.14 billion. Crunching the numbers, that's about $5 per user split across 521 million downloads. There are millions of people who are still actively playing Pokemon Go, and the company is trying to increase its user base by launching a new game called "harry potter wizards unite" which is going to be based on the famous fiction novel Harry Potter. Japan takes out second and is responsible for 29 percent of in-game spending (approx $779 million), and Germany is in third, accounting for 6 percent (approx $159 million).
Most of the revenue provided by users of the Android platform - they brought developers to $1.43 billion (54 %).
You would think that the hype around the game should've died by about now, but the report says that just this year alone, the game has grossed $395 million globally which is up 19% year-over-year. When 2019 comes to a close, Sensor Tower expects the game to hit the $3 billion mark.
