"Our primary goal is to find MacKenzie and bring her home", they told KUTV in a statement. While the ride did reach its destination, her roommates say she never came home and her vehicle is still at the complex.
As their search for her continued on Monday, friends of the young woman spoke out to say she had missed a wedding, a mid-term exam and work since going missing.
Authorities said 23-year-old Mackenzie Lueck returned from visiting family on Monday, June 17 and arrived at the Salt Lake City Airport where she then took a Lyft to North Salt Lake. Police say Lueck, who had flown home to southern California for her grandmother's funeral, texted her mother to say she had arrived safely back in Salt Lake City and hasn't been heard from since, ABC7 reports.
Lueck's parents reported her missing to police on Thursday.
A United States university student is still missing after taking a Lyft ride-share from the airport, police have said.
Officers say they have spoken with Lyft and the driver.
"He took calls immediately after he dropped her off, so his timing and whereabouts have been confirmed", Doubt said.
They said Lueck's route from the airport didn't include any "irregularities and ended at the destination as originally entered by the rider". "Lyft and their driver have cooperated with the investigation".
Police are intensely searching for clues in Hatch Park in North Salt Lake.
The Salt Lake City police also put out a statement on Saturday that Lueck was considered missing. Doubt said police need to confirm the make and model of the vehicle, and a description of the person Lueck met, before releasing those details.
Lueck's friends have handed out missing person fliers and pleaded on Facebook for more information to assist the police.
'We're not disclosing it, we're trying to maintain the integrity of what may become a criminal investigation, ' he said. "And honestly, I would trade places with her in a heartbeat just to know she's safe".
A follow-up tweet added: "We are working diligently to maintain the integrity of this case and ask that anyone with information on Mackenzie or her possible location please contact us".
