Share any file right from File Explorer and easily collaborate with others-edits will be synced across your devicesInterestingly, Microsoft says the new iCloud app is "powered by the same Windows technology that also powers OneDrive's Files On-Demand feature"-an unexpected technical and corporate partnership".
Additionally, the app also displays the amount of iCloud storage that you can use, as well as how much you can still store in the cloud. Furthermore, the app also lets you access iCloud Photos, mail, Contacts, Calendar, Reminders, and Safari Bookmarks on Windows PC. These files stored on iCloud Drive can still be accessed from File Explorer.
Once configured, you can access various features by clicking on the Taskbar icon.
Overall, the Windows 10 version of iCloud doesn't necessarily bring too many changes to users, but it's certainly good news to see the app posted in the Microsoft Store. This brings an improved iCloud Drive experience for Windows 10 users.
"We're excited to announce that starting today, iCloud for Windows is now available to download as an app in the Microsoft Store worldwide", said Giorgio Sardo, engineering general manager for the Microsoft 365 developer ecosystem. Basically, you just need to set up iCloud on an Apple device first (an iOS device with iOS 5 or later, or a Mac with Mac OS X Lion 10.7.4 or later).
If you've ever used iCloud on Windows, the version in the Microsoft Store will look awfully familiar: It's clearly a Desktop Bridge translation of the stock desktop app.
