The internet responded with a swift "nope", blasting the "Keeping Up with the Kardashians" star for throwing a "tone-deaf" party inspired by a show in which fertile women - handmaids - are forced to have children under the authoritarian and fascist government of the fictional nation of Gilead. Case in point: their annual Christmas Eve bash.
It looks like Kylie Jenner has completed the process of replacing former BFF Jordyn Woods with Anastasia Karanikolaou, after she threw the model a Handmaid's Tale-themed birthday party and posted it on Instagram. Her home was decked out in Gilead flags, actors dressed up as Marthas, and she served "Praise Be Vodka" cocktails.
Party guest Sorya has also spoken on the issue, telling her Instagram followers last month "I am PRO-CHOICE".
The videos show the party goers wearing red handmaid's robes and white bonnets, while Jenner greeted her guests by saying: "Praise be ladies".
"Kylie Jenner hosting a Handmaid's Tale themed birthday party is actually a flawless analogy for how rich people will be perfectly fine if Roe v. Wade is overturned", one commentator tweeted.
Many people called the theme "tone deaf" given today's political climate and recent abortion bans.
Plenty of others have gone so far to say that they're "disturbed" that Jenner thought the dystopian television show made for an acceptable party theme, considering how real its storyline has become.
Though Jenner has yet to address the backlash she has received, she has removed any evidence of the party from her social media accounts.
