McCoy and Cox were so successful at what they did that the duo quickly earned two of the most lucrative contracts in National Football League history for a defensive lineman, with the former signing a seven-year deal worth $98 million with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2014, and the latter becoming a hundred millionaire with a six-year, $103 million extension in 2016.
McCoy will take his first-ever free agency visit with the Browns, and he informed other suitors of the pecking order on Thursday.
Dorsey downplayed the significance of McCoy agreeing to meet with the Browns, who have major expectations in 2019 following an offseason in which the team added star wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr., defensive tackle Sheldon Richardson, and edge rusher Olivier Vernon.
"I want to win", the six-time Pro Bowler said.
McCoy was drafted No. 3 overall by Tampa Bay in 2010. "Over the past nine years, Gerald has been a cornerstone of this franchise and a leader in our community".
Which team McCoy winds up with remains to be seen, but it appears he will be paid handsomely wherever he goes.
McCoy had six sacks in 14 games last season and has 54 ½ in 123 career games.
"What they decide to do, I'll be OK with, and I'll accept it and move on", Garrett told the Akron Beacon Journal earlier in the week.
