Horrifying video captures a Texas police officer shooting dead a woman moments after she yelled, "I'm pregnant!" while getting Tasered.
Shocking footage has shown the moment a police officer opened fire and killed a woman moments after she told him she was pregnant.
Police told NBC News that when the officer tried to arrest the woman, she resisted, to which the officer was "forced to deploy his Taser".
"You're actually harassing me", Turner says after she managed to break free from the officer's grip. The officer then fired multiple shots, killing the woman.
Dorris said he believed the police officer was wearing a body cam, but that video will not immediately be released as the investigation continues. Suddenly, the officer pulls away from Turner, steps back and fires five gunshots. The officer then attempted to render aid to the woman but she was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Dorris.
Video of the altercation shows that things quickly escalated between the officer and Turner as the law enforcement official attempted to place Turner in handcuffs.
"It's just sad - very sad - when you see somebody for the past six months walking around", Jennifer Sims said.
"It's unfortunate that someone takes a tragic incident like this and starts posting it to social media". The officer, identified as an 11-year police veteran, had been patrolling an apartment complex in Baytown and spotted Brown.
She yells, "I'm pregnant!" The Baytown Police Department said they will not be able to determine if the 45-year-old was pregnant until a full autopsy has been conducted. He said "as a matter of practice", he keeps names of officers involved in such incidents private so the officer does not get "bombarded" with media requests.
Residents told KPRC 2 that Turner was a resident of the apartment complex and frequently walked late at night to smoke cigarettes or walk her dogs. "Our hearts go out to the families of the deceased, as well as our officer".
Kevin Davis, a police detective and the author of a book on investigating police use of force, said it is impossible to make a proper assessment of Turner's shooting based only on the video and facts released so far.
The shooting is under investigation. It's extremely disrespectful for everybody involved. He has been placed on paid administrative leave.
