Authorities say several motorcycle escort officers crashed Tuesday (May 14) during President Donald Trump's motorcade in Louisiana, but the motorcade itself was not involved.
The motorcade reportedly slowed down on its way from Lake Charles to a liquefied natural gas export facility in Hackleberry where he was scheduled to speak. Even if it had, presidential limo, named "The Beast", is covered in armor plating reported to be eight inches thick and bulletproof windows that are five inches thick.
"We could see at least a couple officers on ground and injured", Bloomberg News White House reporter Jennifer Jacobs tweeted, who was with Trump in Louisiana.
Images of the crash show one officer in a grassy area between two lanes on the highway, apparently in the process of sitting up.
All three were taken to a local hospital where they are being treated for their injuries.
President Donald Trump is touring Sempra Energy's Cameron LNG Export Facility in Cameron Parish today. Later, he gave a speech promoting USA energy policy.
