The restaurant's manager is Erica Herman, who is Woods' girlfriend. As Woods has staged a career comeback that began past year and culminated in his triumph last month at the Masters, Herman has become a familiar figure to golf fans, who have seen Woods greet her with affection after completing rounds.
Messages left with Woods' representatives by USA TODAY Sports were not immediately returned.
Immesberger, who played football at Bridewater College in western Virginia, lost control of his auto on his way home and swerved across three lanes before going airborne and overturning in Port Salerno, Florida Highway Patrol said at the time, according to the Palm Beach Post.
Tiger Woods, his daughter Sam Alexis Woods, and his girlfriend Erica Herman. The suit alleges that the employees and management at The Woods promoted drinking by employees.
The news broke hours after Woods played his opening practice round for the 101st PGA Championship, the year's second major golf tournament which starts Thursday at Bethpage Black on Long Island in NY.
The lawsuit states Woods and Herman were drinking with Immesberger at the bar of The Woods "only a few nights before the fatal crash".
It also says Woods "knew, or reasonably should have known, that (Immesberger) was habitually addicted to the use of any or all alcoholic beverages, and/or was a habitual drunkard".
Woods and Herman are being sued after 24-year-old Nicholas Immesberger died in a drunk driving accident in December 2018.
He lost control of his vehicle at around 6pm Eastern, and crashed and died in the accident while trying to get home.
At the time of his death Immesberger had a blood alcohol level of.256, which is more than three times the legal limit of below.08 in Florida. According to the lawsuit, filed in a Palm Beach County court on behalf of his parents, he ended his shift at approximately 3 p.m. that day and stayed at the restaurant, "sitting at the bar area", until he headed home. According to CNN, he was scheduled to be part of a tournament news conference Tuesday morning.
A copy of a citation obtained by DailyMail.com shows Immesberger had been cited for speeding and failure to produce a drivers license on December 4, 2008, just six days before he died.
