YNW Melly is at risk of getting the death penalty in his Florida murder case.
Miramar police arrested the Kanye West collaborator in February in connection with the fatal shootings of his friends Christopher Thomas Jr., 19, and Anthony Williams, 21. Both men were also rappers.
Authorities say the 19-year-old and his pal Cortlen Henry, 20, tried to cover up the October 26, 2018, slaying by staging the crime scene to look like a drive-by shooting.
Police have not disclosed where the men were killed, but they were last seen in Fort Lauderdale.
According to the police report, Demons and Henry shot Williams and Thomas on October 26 before driving around the block with their bodies in the auto. Reports claim that Melly, 19, even attempted to stage the deaths as the result of a drive-by shooting, and reportedly rode around with the dead bodies in his trunk. Someone in that auto started shooting, striking Williams and Thomas.
After the killings, Demons mourned the victims on social media.
Investigators say that's not how it really happened. Investigators ended up saying the two YNW members were allegedly shot from inside the Jeep they were riding in with YNW Melly.
Demons' lawyer, Bradford Cohen, said the rapper is not guilty, though he did not offer any details about his defense.
XXL has obtained court documents showing that the State of Florida is seeking the death penalty against Melly because they can prove beyond a reasonable doubt that the rapper "killed his friends for financial gain" and that "the murder was speciously heinous, atrocious or cruel, and he committed homicide in a cold, calculated and premeditated manner". He is now being held without bond at Broward County's Main Jail in Fort Lauderdale.
