During the time of the delivery, the nurse pulled the foetus so carelessly that it resulted in splitting the body of the baby into two parts.
Dr Nikhil Sharma, the head of the Ramgarh Community Health Centre, said he was not present when Ms Kanwar was admitted to the facility and the two nurses allegedly conducted the delivery unsupervised.
Barmer: In a terrible case of medical negligence, a woman's baby was split into half during delivery in government hospital of Ramgarh area, Rajasthan.
The mother, who has been named by local media as "Dikhsha Kanwar" is reportedly fighting for her life in hospital following the incident.
Meanwhile, the Rajasthan State Human Rights Commission has taken cognizance of the incident and sought a report from Jaisalmer SP and CMHO, ANI reported. Also, the family didn't inform that the head of the baby was inside the womb.
The boss of the Ramgarh community health centre claimed he wasn't around at the time of the incident.
Doctors reportedly then found the head of the dead baby inside the woman's womb during surgery and informed her relatives.
Both men have been suspended and an internal investigation is now underway.
A nurse pulled out the newborn with enormous force during the delivery, the parents alleged.
Jalam Singh, sub-inspector and investigating officer of the case, said on behalf of Diksha, her husband Tilok Bhati lodged a complaint against Amritlal and Junjhar Singh, the two male nurses.
After she was transferred, doctors performed the operation during which they found the baby's head in the womb and informed the woman's family.
"When questioned, the hospital staffers handed over the lower part of the foetus to us", he said.
