Jeff Bezos, Wife MacKenzie Bezos Divorcing After 25 Years

A note posted on Bezos' Twitter account Wednesday said the two of them will remain "cherished friends", as well as "partners" in ventures and projects.

Thus far, it looks like the couple will have an amicable divorce -especially for the children's sake.

Bezos is now the world's richest man, worth in excess of $100 billion. It's important to note that there was reportedly no prenuptial agreement.

Ironically, the pair married the same year, 1993, that Bezos made a decision to start his online bookstore, which eventually morphed into the behemoth that is Amazon today. It valued $20 billion more than Microsoft. He owns a 16% stake in the e-commerce colossus he founded in 1994.

How much will Bezos have to pay his ex-wife?

Jeff was the first person to interview Mackenzie when she applied for the position, in 1992.

They met while working together at a NY hedge fund. Her father worked as a financial planner.

He graduated form Princeton University in 1986 with a degree in electrical engineering and computer science.

MacKenzie Bezos, 48, is an author who grew up in San Francisco, according to a 2013 profile in Vogue magazine.

She also started Bystander Revolution, an anti-bullying organization in 2014. TMZ is reporting that Jeff Bezos has zero regrets about the way things unfolded 25 years ago when he and MacKenzie exchanged wedding vows.

Shares of Amazon gained 0.24 percent as of 12:54 p.m. ET.
