The Predator Triton 500 arrives as a 15-inch alternative with a more traditional gaming laptop appearance. Models of the Triton 500 that come equipped with NVIDIA's GeForce RTX 2080 Max-Q GPU will also support G-Sync.
The Predator Triton 900 is a "convertible" with a touchscreen design slotted into a hinge design you'd more likely find on an expensive airplane tray table than laptop. Otherwise, the specs are very much what you'd expect from a modern gaming laptop, with 8th generation Intel i7 chips, 16GB of base memory (with the option of going up to 32GB) and up to a terabyte of NVMe-based storage.
The Predator Triton 900's screen can even be reversed-for that one time when you'll want to deliver a presentation. I'm not sure ergonomics is top of mind for most gamers who are willing to shell out $4,000 for a laptop, but it can't hurt either. The device packs a 15.6-inch Full HD display with a 144Hz refresh rate, surrounded by bezels measuring 6.3mm, allowing for a screen-to-body ratio of 81%.
Acer has unveiled three new products at the CES 2019. Plus, it features an Xbox wireless receiver, so you can use your console's controller for desktop games without having to purchase an additional accessory.
However, the Acer Predator Triton 500's durable, all-metal chassis is just 17.9 mm (0.70 inches) thick, and weighs just 2.1 kg (4.6 pounds). Waves audio is also included, including Waves Nx with head tracking for a 3D audio experience. It can be upgraded to NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 GPUs which can be overclocked for some VR-Ready games.
Coming later this year will be the PredatorSense app for controlling Predator PCs from a smartphone. The app can control settings for overclocking, fan speeds, lighting, and audio modes. It will also enable users to view and set customised macro key sets for physical hotkeys.
The Acer Predator Triton 900 will be available in South Africa from June 2019, and will be priced at R84 999. It will be available in North America in February with prices starting at US$1,799, in EMEA in February with prices starting at €1,999, and in China in January with prices starting at ¥16,999.
