XFL Unveils Eight Cities, Venues for Teams to Launch in February 2020

On Wednesday, a press conference was held at MetLife Stadium, and some big announcements were made regarding which cities will be hosting teams, and which stadiums they will be playing at. Ticket prices will be "significantly lower" than other USA professional sports leagues, he added.

The inaugural XFL season will take place on the weekend of February 8-9, 2020 - the week following Super Bowl LIII. Luck says they want to listen to fans and say they already have great ideas from them.

The XFL hopes to deliver a fan-centric, innovative experience, including fast-paced games and a family friendly environment, complemented by cross-platform viewing options and real-time fan engagement. They want a smooth in game flow, limiting timeouts, and simplifying rules. Louis, Seattle and Washington also will field teams. The building is home to two National Football League teams - the New York Giants and New York Jets - and of course, next year's WrestleMania 35.

All eight XFL teams will have the same roster budget.

The XFL will play its games during the NFL's offseason and will "complement", not directly compete with the National Football League, he added. Players will be tested for performance-enhancing drugs.

In terms of selecting host cities for the XFL's first season, it was noted that more than 30 cities and venues expressed interest in participating, and that the league was looking for dedicated long-term partners rather than just a buildings to rent.

The football league founded by wrestling entrepreneur Vince McMahon will be absent in several of the largest television markets: Chicago, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Boston and Atlanta.
