Virat Kohli Tops Forbes India's Rich List For Sportspersons In 2018

On the back of ₹253.25 crore earned through his film releases, television appearances and brand endorsements between October 1, 2017, and September 30, 2018, the 52-year-old actor became India's highest-paid celebrity on the list for the third consecutive year. Deepika Padukone, the only woman to be featured in the top 10, grabbed the fourth place, below Kumar, with an income of ₹112.8 crores. Shah Rukh Khan who was at the 2nd spot on the 2017 list suffered this year's most dramatic fall.

How was 2018 Forbes India Celebrity 100 list calculated?

While calling this the superstar's "habit, ' Forbes also appreciated the fact that a sportsperson followed him to make it to the second spot (Virat Kohli), 'challenging an actor's domination at the top for the first time".

The 2018 Forbes India Celebrity 100 List rankings are based on estimates of entertainment-related earnings of celebrities.

Cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni is at number 5, Mr Perfectionist Aamir Khan at number 6, megastar Amitabh Bachchan at 7, Ranveer Singh at number 8, Sachin Tendulkar at 9 and Ajay Devgn at number 10 respectively.

India cricket captain Virat Kohli took the second spot with total earnings of Rs 228.09 crore. Salman Khan has been named the highest earning Indian celebrity by Forbes once more, cementing his position at the top. Down by 33 percent, his earnings were goosed at Rs 56 crore by the magazine.

15 celebrities from South Indian Cinema also made it to the list.

There is mixed representation from the prolific South Indian film industry.

According to Forbes India, the earnings of Mammootty stands at 18 Crores.
