But shortly after his performance at Madison Square Garden, the famed guitarist of the rock band Aerosmith collapsed backstage.
Perry, 68, had performed at Madison Square Garden in NY with Billy Joel, joining the singer for Aerosmith's "Walk This Way", Deadline reports. They inserted a tracheal tube to clear his airway and gave the rocker oxygen.
Paramedics arrived to his dressing room and worked on the 68-year-old who was experiencing shortness of breath.
Perry is expected to be released from hospital in the next day or so. The Aerosmith guitarist will be unable to appear today at Rock And Roll Fantasy Camp in Florida and apologises to those attending. In an update to their initial post, TMZ quote sources who say Perry has been having breathing difficulties "for the last few weeks". In 2016, he collapsed on stage during a performance in Coney Island.
Reports suggested his health problems on that occasion stemmed from a combination of dehydration and exhaustion, and the group's frontman, Alice Cooper, speculated at the time that Joe might have been unprepared for the rigours of a world tour. So here's to hoping that Perry and his health will have what it takes to make those upcoming gigs.
