Midterms: Did Meghan Markle vote? Kensington Palace refuses to confirm

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's first holiday as a married couple is sure to be a memorable one. WPA Pool/Getty Images Entertainment/Getty ImagesAll of this would make a Christmas invite to Sandringham House from the Queen - an honor that's reportedly not been bestowed upon other in-laws like Kate Middleton's parents - even more meaningful. Her attendance at this event is notable because while the families of people who marry into the royal fam are welcomed at big events, (like weddings and christenings), they do not have the privilege tag along for royal engagements. These are 10 holiday traditions the royal family does every year.

An emotional Doria was the only member of Meghan's family to attend her wedding to Prince Harry at Windsor Castle in May.

The invitation is believed to be a show of respect and also an acknowledgement that Markle has no other family in Britain.

The source continues, explaining that Harry's children will also feel the influence of the late Princess Diana, who wanted her family to be aware of those less fortunate and live their lives with appreciation. Then, all summer long, the newly-minted Duchess of Sussex was embroiled in a very public feud with her estranged father, Thomas Markle, and her step-sister Samantha who seemed to take interview after interview to publicly disparage the actress with name-calling and rude comments. Their Christmas schedule stays pretty much the same year after year - signing cards in the Summer, taking the royal train to Sandringham, black-tie dinner and drinks on Christmas Eve - and this year, there will be a new addition to the royal festivities.

A source added: "She has never been asked to join the royal household for Christmas, and she would love to be regarded as part of the royal family".
