Abigail's mom Ruthie Ann Blumenstein, a Tony-award winning actress who goes by the stage name Ruthie Ann Miles, also lost her unborn baby in the tragedy.
Dorothy Bruns, 44, was found dead at her Staten Island home Wednesday, with officials saying they had discovered pills and a note close to her corpse which read 'I don't want to live like this anymore'.
But in May she was arrested at her home and charged with manslaughter, criminally negligent homicide and assault.
Bruns suffered from multiple sclerosis and was prone to seizures. Miles, Lew and another pedestrian were all injured in the crash and Miles, who was seven months pregnant at the time, suffered a miscarriage months later due to injuries she sustained that day, according to NBC 4 NY.
Prosecutors say doctors had told Bruns not to drive after she had a previous medical episode.
She won for best featured actress in a musical in 2015 and had been due to play the same role in London's West End this summer.
On March 5, Bruns was behind the wheel of her vehicle when she fatally hit two children in a Brooklyn crosswalk and caused a woman to lose her unborn child. During the episode, she lost control of her vehicle, which traveled forward, fatally striking Joshua Lew, 1, and Abigail Blumstein, 4, who were crossing the intersection with their mothers, who were also injured. Abigail died and her mother, who was 39 weeks pregnant at the time, was injured. Right, Lauren Lew is seen with her son 1-year-old Joshua.
In September 2017, Bruns struck a pedestrian in Long Island City, Queens.
She faced up to 15 years in prison.
