Bell said what she found most offensive about "Snow White" is the kiss the princess received from Prince Charming to wake her up.
She said that as a survivor of child abuse herself, Snow White's story served as a reminder for her that not all men are abusers.
"Don't you think that it's weird that the prince kisses Snow White without her permission?"
Bell is the voice of Princess Anna in the highly popular animated film Frozen, but recently she told Parents magazine that Snow White is too trusting of strangers by taking the apple from the witch in the 1937 film. But that's not Bell's only contention with the fairy tale classic; it's the method by which Snow White awakens from her poisonous slumber that really irks the actress. "You don't think it's okay to let some wealthy, handsome sovereign give you an unconsented kiss simply because you're lying in a coma in glass coffin in the middle of the woods surrounded by crying dwarves and anthropomorphized forest animals, do you?"
Bell's parenting philosophy seems to be similar to that of Keira Knightley.
The 33-year-old actress said that the 1950's Cinderella character "waits around for a rich guy to rescue her. Or where she got that apple?"' In a new interview, the actress, 38, opened up about how she questions certain storylines when she reads fairytales to her two daughters, Lincoln, 5, and Delta, 3. Did you know Pongo and Perdita had something like 100 kids on a brittle planet that can hardly sustain any of us? She's implying that the Prince is doing something wrong in the story by kissing her.
While teaching children about consent is definitely a good idea, some people on Twitter thought that the Good Place star shouldn't bring the discussion into story time. "You might think I'm ruining the fantasy of it all, but these stories are promoting sexual violence, and I would like everyone to be aware of it". "I mean, the songs are great, but do not give your voice up for a man. Don't. Rescue yourself, obviously", Knightley said.
Some fans also pointed out how Snow White isn't the only Disney film that features questionable content. Do you agree with her take on Snow White? Know the difference between abuse and affection.
