"It boasts a 3,800mAh battery, and has a 6.3" Full HD+, Super AMOLED display.
You'd be forgiven for getting a bit confused. Samsung has gone all-out in the memory department because the highest specifications version of the newly announced smartphone features up to 8GB RAM and 128GB of internal memory, though this variant is going to be limited to certain markets.
Speaking about the camera system during the Galaxy A9 launch event, Samsung mobile chief DJ Koh said: "Building on our legacy in smartphone camera development we're introducing next-generation technology across our entire Galaxy portfolio to give more consumers the opportunity to experience cutting-edge innovation".
And that's not where the cameras end, since there is a 24MP front-facing camera with f/2.0 for all selfies and video calls.
The new module is the 10MP telephoto camera with f/2.4 lens.
The main camera of the Galaxy A9 features a 24MP sensor and a bright f/1.7 aperture. Directly below that is a secondary 5MP sensor that is only there to capture depth information for better portrait images. What we can say is that this is a feat of engineering that other companies will likely try to mimic or are already testing.
"We're excited to deliver on this promise and debut world-leading smartphone camera technology with the Galaxy A9". Currently, it is running the Android 8.0 Oreo update and it uses a Type-C USB port for charging purposes.
The Samsung Galaxy A9 is set to go on sale in November this year starting at £549 - retailing over £200 less than the Galaxy S9. And all of those features come at a premium, as expected. Three colorways are available: Caviar Black, Lemonade Blue, and Bubblegum Pink, with the latter two presenting eye-catching Huawei-style gradient finishes.
