Senate Dems lose health care vote, hope it's campaign fodder

On Sept. 27, Kavanaugh and one of his accusers, California professor Christine Blasey Ford, appeared in front of the Senate Judiciary Committee to testify about Ford's sexual assault allegation against Kavanaugh.

In an interview with The Associated Press, the Kentucky Republican cited the Trump administration's "extraordinary" success with the GOP-controlled Congress — including a growing economy, two new Supreme Court justices and congressional action to cut regulations and taxes.

Many analysts predict Democrats will be able to take control of the House of Representatives, but it is far from clear if they can also capture the Senate. He says it would backfire and help Trump in 2020 the way President Bill Clinton's impeachment cost Republicans two decades ago. Tammy Baldwin (D-Wis.)'s failed measure to thwart the executive order before November's midterm elections. The fight over shorter-term plans-which went on sale this month and are free from many Affordable Care Act requirements-is emerging as a proxy for the broader battle over health care.

Brett Kavanaugh who was recently christened as our latest Supreme Court Justice, has hired four law clerks to work with him and they all happened to be women. Some even speculated anger over Democrats' treatment of Kavanaugh would spur GOP voters even more. He says "the controversy ironically produced an adrenaline shot" among Republicans.

Roberts Jr. on Wednesday referred more than a dozen judicial misconduct complaints filed recently against Brett M. Kavanaugh to a federal appeals court in Colorado.

Although the complaints were originally lodged with the US Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit, Kavanaugh's former court, the circuit executive of that court asked Roberts to transfer the matters to another circuit out of a "concern that local disposition may weaken public confidence in the process".

So what is it about West Virginian voters that allows them to walk a line between support for Trump and support for Manchin and how did Manchin's vote for Kavanaugh affect their view of the Senator?

A Republican in CT who is running for Senator Chris Murphy's seat seems to have benefitted from the rancorous confirmation battle.

Murkowski bucked her party and voted against advancing Kavanaugh's nomination.

"It was a simple fix", McConnell said. She voted "present" in the actual confirmation vote. "Never before has a Supreme Court nominee been poised to join the court while a fellow judge recommends that a series of misconduct claims against that nominee warrant review". "I'm proud she's in the Republican conference", he added. He pointed out that Murkowski won election as a write-in vote in 2010.

Kavanaugh denied the allegations and during a Senate hearing accused Democrats of an "orchestrated political hit".
